Process Director (PD) has evolved since 1995 from a series of custom client server modules into a highly configurable application that allows control of virtually any business process utilizing a unique work flow type concept. PD can run an entire business operations or be integrated into current systems to provide a specific functionality.  PD can be integrated with a variety of accounting software programs including your existing system to minimize overall costs of an overall enterprise (ERP) installation.  All PD applications work in client-server networks and over the Internet.  PD's cost and simplicity are geared toward small to medium size businesses but it is fully scalable for any size business application.

Applications for PD:

  • Optimize business processes - PD Setup is an excellent tool in optimizing business processes. Once analysis and initial process design is complete, the system is ready to start production. Over time, the processes can be improved, made more detailed or changed to reflect new practices easily using PD Setup without any change to the program or interruption in operations.
  • Office and Lab automation - Eliminate duplicate entry, minimize paperwork, reduce time to complete process, ability to track status.  Virtually any repeatable process can be modeled and controlled.
  • Job Shop Control - PD includes job specific data tables to track and analyze job by job performance.  The PD setup function is ideal for adapting PD to the unique needs of a job shop oriented company.  On the fly inventory number creation is available using PD's inventory group level definition and macro creation facility.  PD does not require a part specific routing or bill of material because of its unique ability to model product families.  The production tasks and job data records created at work order creation time represent the needed routing and bill of material information.
  • Warehouse Control - PD includes a growing list of functionality to control inventory in a warehouse environment.  On line and printed pick material lists are included and display oldest locations as standard.  Multiple locations per inventory item is standard as are configurable  adjustment and transfer screens which can be grouped and accessed in a variety of ways.  PD can be integrated to bar code and material handling systems as required.
  • Project Control - PD provides the ability to track multiple projects against common resources and provide real time project status updates at a fraction of the cost/complication of comparable project management software.  It is integrated with MS Project and MS Excel allowing a wide variety of project outputs.  PD is ideal for companies that have multiple repeatable projects like construction, software implementation, and maintenance.
  • Inventory Control - Incorporates easy to use interfaces and user specific macros to simplify creation of item masters and bill of material relationships.  All inventory is linked to one of the processes modeled in PD.  Inventory related tasks set up in PD processes automatically perform inventory transactions upon task completion.  PD flexibility allows the incorporation of a simplified location control for a job shop to sophisticated location control for a warehouse,
  • Scheduling - PD scheduling is available at varying degrees of sophistication to meet each companies needs.  PD process models include task linkages to establish critical path, task level and/or inventory level schedule parameters, and a variety of calculation methods.  Company specific macros can be added to provide added capability such as single point scheduling.  Finite scheduling capabilities are available for companies with a detailed production history and/or good forecast models.  You can start simple and evolve toward finite scheduling at a practical pace.
  • Work order control - Incorporates configurable work order automation that creates and schedules work orders based on sales order or build to stock demand.  Each work order creates needed office and manufacturing tasks needed to accomplish a given process.  We utilize the unique PD setup facility to tailor the work order creation process to suit each customers unique needs.
  • Sales process control - PD includes a configurable easy to use interface for quickly creating sales orders.  Each order spawns a set of needed tasks to process/track order from order release to receipt of payment.  A prospect database is included to be used in conjunction with quotations to new customers.
  • Purchase process control -  PD includes a configurable easy to use interface for quickly creating purchase orders.  Purchase orders can also be automatically created based on demand created by sales and build to stock orders.  Tasks created include receipt and location assign tasks that require minimal user input and can be integrated with bar code systems as applicable.  An inspection task can be added to check incoming material and can include disposition, track scrap and returns, and capture key measurements.
  • Reporting and Document control - PD includes all the Information Director functionality including its reporting and document control capabilities.  Documents can be accessed from PD task detail screen, PD pop up menu, and through the Information Director main user screen. (refer to Information Director section for more information.)
  • Specialized Needs - PD is highly configurable without modifying it’s underlying code and can be used as a framework application to eliminate the need for costly “from scratch” custom programs for specialized needs. Microsoft’s VBScript is utilized to handle customer specific functions not included in the standard PD setup modeling.

PD vs Traditional Systems Process Director is a unique approach to controlling business processes.  For manufacturing operations this means a faster implementation, an easier to maintain system, and other advantages that facilitate improved efficiency.
Process Director View Installed at all reporting areas modeled in Process Director Setup.  These reporting areas can be remote as well as local.  Used by all users to view detail of orders and projects, change task status, input data, access PD functions, output reports, view/edit documents, and launch other applications part of user job function.
Process Director Create This module is used to create orders and projects based on process models set up using PD Setup.
Process Director Setup Utility within process director that allows a great degree of flexibility to configure PD to match customer needs without any change to underlying software code.  Includes creation of process templates, reporting structure, input for reference data and interface to screen configuration files.
